Finally deciding to buy a quality mattress is a momentous time in your life, but actually buying one is not as easy.
There are a plethora of mattresses you can choose from, and it can get confusing very quickly. When it comes to mattresses, it’s not always the case that the more expensive mattress are always better.
Having said that, and knowing all of the benefits that having a good mattress brings, here are a couple of tips that you should keep in mind while making a choice:
1. Try Before You Buy
You try on shoes before you buy them, right? And while it’s pretty embarrassing or awkward to lie down on a bed right there in the furniture shop, it’s something that you absolutely should do.
There’s really no way to get around this. The only way to get a good feel of the bed is to literally feel it out.
Stretch out, curl up, and do things as you would as if you were really going to sleep. This is especially true for married couples or those who sleep with a partner.
Ideally, you should spend at least 10 minutes really feeling out the mattress.
This way, you’ll know exactly how a Singapore pocket spring mattress feels like compared to something else, like, let’s say a traditional spring mattress, or a memory foam mattress.
2. Don’t Worry About the Foundation Too Much
The bed frame, base, or foundation is something that a lot of people seem to spend tons of money on, and it’s weird because they’re not that important.
The only reason why you need to buy one is to raise your bed one because you’re not going to want your mattress on the floor. If you plan on buying a platform bed, you won’t need one anymore, and if you already have an old foundation that works just fine, the only reason why you need to buy a new foundation is if your new mattress is going to be bigger too.
Don’t get convinced into buying a more expensive foundation. If it holds your bed just fine, then it’s good.
3. Buy In Person
Unless you’re going to save a lot of money by buying online and can find a way to test out the same product in person, don’t buy a mattress online.
Trying it out for yourself is a crucial part of the process of buying a bed.
4. Be Prepared to Spend Money
A quality pocket spring mattress doesn’t come cheap. Nor does a memory foam mattress. Or, basically any quality mattress for that matter.
But, even if they are a bit expensive, you do get a ton of mileage on them, and quality mattresses will feel as good for as long as you want them to. The quality won’t degrade much, and that means a lot in the grand scheme of things.
When it comes to mattresses, you have to be prepared and you have to be ready to spend big. But then again, what’s a couple of financial sacrifices for a few months when it’s worth thousands of hours of quality sleep for a decade or two?
